Born to Be Blue – Official Trailer #1 – Ethan Hawke, Carmen Ejogo

Born to Be Blue Born to Be Blue stars Ethan Hawke around jazz trumpeter Chet Baker, a man for whom I don’t really know enough of him and his life to know how much Hawke looks like him, but watching this trailer, all I can think of is ‘Ethan Hawke’.

This movie, written and directed by Robert Budreau – who also made the 2009 short film, The Deaths Of Chet Baker, with Stephen McHattie in the lead role, who also pops up here as Chet’s father – is a re-imagining of Baker’s life in the 60’s. When Chet stars in a film about himself, a romance heats up with his costar, the enigmatic Jane (Carmen Ejogo). Production is shelved when Chet’s past comes back to haunt him and it appears he may never play music again but Jane challenges him to mount a musical comeback against all the odds.

Born to Be Blue also stars Callum Keith Rennie and Tony Nappo, and as of yet, there’s no UK release date for it, or anywhere for that matter.
