Dynasty remake coming to Netflix on October 12th

Dynasty Dynasty ran for nine seasons when it launched in 1981 and I remember its early years, especially as it went head-to-head against Dallas, with Dynasty always looking the posher cousin of the other.

Melrose Place‘s Grant Show is Blake Carrington in his younger years (as is everyone), Nathalie Kelley is his wife-to-be Cristal, while most of the rest of the cast are mostly unknown to me, although the ever-reliable Alan Dale (The OC, 24, and everything from Neighbours onwards) is Joseph Anders.

And this time round, sadly there’s no Heather Locker as Sammy Jo, because… that character is Sammy Joe, played by Rafael de la Fuente. Yes, the new Dynasty has gay characters. Ooh, how modern 😉

Synopsis:

Dynasty, the modern-day reboot of the iconic primetime soap produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire, follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons, and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) is charismatic, cunning, and poised to become the new COO of her father’s global energy empire, or so she thinks. When her father, Blake Carrington, (Grant Show) summons Fallon and her brother, Steven, (James Mackay) home to the family compound in Atlanta, Fallon is horrified to learn that the reunion isn’t to announce her promotion, but rather to make the acquaintance of their stepmother-to-be, Cristal (Nathalie Kelley). Cristal is stunning, and almost as young as Fallon, as Fallon is quick to point out, but she isn’t just some flimsy gold-digger to be scared off.

The series also stars Sam Adegoke (Murder in the First), Robert Christopher Riley (Hit the Floor). Executive producers are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (both Gossip Girl), Sallie Patrick (Revenge), Esther Shapiro and Richard Shapiro (the creators of the original Dynasty) and Brad Silberling (Jane The Virgin).

Dynasty launches on Netflix on October 12th and new episodes are broadcast weekly.

Let’s just hope that no-one sends Fallon up in a spaceship this time…
