Ghostbusters Paranormal Blast on for iPhone & iPod touch

Ghostbusters Paranormal Blast

XMG Studio Inc. is proud to announce their Ghostbusters Paranormal Blast App for iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the App Store. With the launch of the game, award-winning developer XMG Studio Inc. is once again pushing the innovation envelope of gaming apps. By melding an exciting augmented reality (AR) battle system with location-based services (LBS), the game fully immerses players in real-world battles against ghastly ghosts.

Equipped with proton guns and other amped-up equipment, the rookie can capture paranormal menaces like a true Ghostbuster. The location-based features enable players to catch ghosts haunting their very own neighborhood. Designed by the developers of the augmented reality game Pandemica, Ghostbusters Paranormal Blast is as close as fans can get to live the life of a real Ghostbuster.

“Ghostbusters™ Paranormal Blast melts the irresistible Ghostbuster universe with each player’s individual reality,” said Mark Caplan, Vice President of Licensing at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “We think it will have tremendous appeal to both the existing Ghostbusters fans as well as an exciting beginning for the next generation.”

All players start out as recruits by choosing one of six avatars and working their way up the ranks by ridding the world of residual spirits. Recruits can upgrade their Proton Packs to protect them from overheating too quickly, enhance the impact of their Neutrona wand, upgrade their Flight suits to increase armor, and much more. To deliver a special gaming experience to the tremendous Ghostbusters fan base around the world, recruits will face some well-known foes such as Slimer or the Librarian Ghost. The game will also feature more than 14 unique and visually stunning 3D demons. For every ghost busted, recruits are rewarded with city payouts (in-game petty cash) as well as buster bucks to upgrade their equipment and move up in the ranks.

“Ghostbusters Paranormal Blast blends together some of the coolest features available in mobile gaming”, adds says Ray Sharma, founder and CEO of XMG Studio Inc., one of the largest independent mobile video game studios in Canada. “Augmented Reality introduces virtual objects into a real-world environment as seen through your camera. Players use the iPhone location to find and catch local ghosts but will also need to use their accelerometer and gyroscope to blast-and-then-steer ghosts into a virtual ghost trap for containment and collection.”
