Drive 2: The Uber Years stars Ryan Gosling in a sequel to Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2011 drama with Gosling as the driver and… oh, no it doesn’t. It’s a spoof, and a very good one from lookalike Joey Thompson (right) as Mr Gosling, who’s quit his job as the eponymous Driver and is now working for Uber, and kinda wishes he hadn’t.
However, after recently breaking my right arm and not being able to drive for eight weeks, I had to rely on taxis a few times, and this included getting ripped off by Lynx Taxis compared to when I tried Uber, who charged a lot less! And it was easier to call one as I could do it with my phone’s app and all the payments go through that directly.
Anyhoo, back to this and the short film is directed by Fabio Frey, who wrote it with Thompson plus Pedro Correa, Jacob Zulanch and Nikhil Deshpande.
Drive 2: The Uber Years isn’t coming to a cinema near you any time soon, sadly, but check out the trailer below and click on the above image for the full-size version. Also, below, there’s outtakes and a clip: Girl’s Night/Uber Pool.
