Elly Roberts reviews
Loaded Records
Sweaty non-stop dance re-mixes from Brighton studio wizards/dance DJs James Wiltshire and Russell Small, aka Freemasons.
A whopping 28-track double CD is bound to thrill clubbers across the nation:it proves the duo have been extremely busy over the past 18 months.
This clubbers delight hit the stores on Monday 29th January and will no doubtmake it big pretty quickly on the compilation charts. Not being exactly adance aficionado by any means, it is an excellent collection of work.Beyonces Déjà Vu takes on a whole meaning, as does the sample ofRide On Time (Black Box) via Loleatta Holloways Love Sensation.
One of the major highlights of CD 1 is the Freemasons themselves featuringsublime vocals by Amanda Wilson with a glorious breezy I Feel Like. Ata mere 144 their Pacific (Saxapella) seems almost pointless, though theFatboy Slim remix of Right Here Right Now is given a sultry Asianflavour, at times becoming unrecognisable, but works beautifully.
CD2 continues the frenetic pace, as Amanda Wilsons soulful and culturedlarynx adds real punch to Love On My Mind, a retro disco classic.Perculiarly, balladeer Judy Tzuke has been commissioned to do the singing on achunky cover of Love Dont Love Here Anymore – interesting Studio BsCmon Get It On is a brilliant highlight, dripping with stylish funk.
Another odd inclusion is Luther Vandross on Shine, but yet again, itworks. Cooling off, theres a sexy finish on mid-tempo Rain Down Love(After Hours Mix) featuring a great vocal by Siedah Garrett.
Totally dancetastic!

Elly Roberts passed away in 2011, but he was a man who was so passionate about all types of music and loved meeting his musical heroes, such as Mick Hucknall at a book signing at the Trafford Centre, Manchester in 2007.
A former teacher and also a music journalist, DJ and radio presenter on local community station Calon FM, plus appearances on BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio 2, Elly started doing reviews for DVDfever.co.uk in 2004 and he did the majority of the CD and concerts reviews on the website.
I know also that he loved getting away for the summer to Spain and I hope that wherever he is now he is enjoying the hot sunshine and, as one of his friends has said on his Facebook page, that he is interviewing his musical heroes.
