Elly Roberts reviews
Belerion Records
Thirteen year old Chester schoolboy Inigo Byrne releases his debut album My World on Belerion Records.
The talent remains with the singing as he delves into the back-catalogue ofpopular legends Lennon and McCartney, Queen, Stevie Wonder and Tears for Fears.
Classical composer Mozart also makes the cut, along with some nice renditionsof traditional songs. Not all the songs work because of the limp arrangementssuch as Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Proverbial fodder likeMorning Has Broken gets the umpteenth cover.
Backing musicians Fairport Convention, the London Metropolitan Orchestra andsingers from the Tarvin Childrens Choir make excellent contributions.
Byrne scores high on track 14 Ave Verum Corpus, but translates lesseffectively into the secular sojourns of The Beatles Across The Universe.
Best track by a mile is Listen To The Voices.
As a debut its a very good effort, but hes a long way to go. Problems willarise when his voice breaks and the next step in his vocal development may nottake him into the highly competitive music world. One major drawback is thelack of challenging material, though he excels on May It Be.
After a while, I found the whole listening experience rather dull. Good luckto him, because hell need a hit like Aled Jones Walking In The Air toget commercially recognised, and it isnt here.

Elly Roberts passed away in 2011, but he was a man who was so passionate about all types of music and loved meeting his musical heroes, such as Mick Hucknall at a book signing at the Trafford Centre, Manchester in 2007.
A former teacher and also a music journalist, DJ and radio presenter on local community station Calon FM, plus appearances on BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio 2, Elly started doing reviews for DVDfever.co.uk in 2004 and he did the majority of the CD and concerts reviews on the website.
I know also that he loved getting away for the summer to Spain and I hope that wherever he is now he is enjoying the hot sunshine and, as one of his friends has said on his Facebook page, that he is interviewing his musical heroes.
