Its a massive thumbs down for Will Youngs new live DVD.
As the pre-show clock counts down, youd swear you were in for something spectacular. Infact, its a big anti-climax, and no more than I expected.
With a stage personality of a wet lettuce, sugar-coated Will Young drags us through apainful 90 minutes plus of his Wembley gig from winter 2004. Early on healmost pleads with the audience to raise the atmosphere, hoping it wouldboost sales. When he gets under way, his pubescent grating voice may wellappeal to the teen element, but after a couple of songs, it annoys to thepoint of distraction.
Adopting the usual pap tactics, the production boys wade in. Theres theproverbial dance troupe, backing singers, big band and visual backdrops whichfail to impress. Youngs routines and moves are as naff as you can get: hestruts his stuff like a big girl.
Technically, theres sharp editing from the multi-angled shots from the everpopular arena, which compensate for the gooey musical interpretations. Hes avery nice boy, but with a show like this hell never get the credibility hecraves for. The amount of work necessary to improve his stage persona isprobably beyond him.
Worst bit? His destruction of Stephens Stills classic Love The One YoureWith.
Best bit? End of show !

Elly Roberts passed away in 2011, but he was a man who was so passionate about all types of music and loved meeting his musical heroes, such as Mick Hucknall at a book signing at the Trafford Centre, Manchester in 2007.
A former teacher and also a music journalist, DJ and radio presenter on local community station Calon FM, plus appearances on BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio 2, Elly started doing reviews for DVDfever.co.uk in 2004 and he did the majority of the CD and concerts reviews on the website.
I know also that he loved getting away for the summer to Spain and I hope that wherever he is now he is enjoying the hot sunshine and, as one of his friends has said on his Facebook page, that he is interviewing his musical heroes.
