World-famous chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay is turning up the heat at Caesars Palace by launching the world’s first Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in Las Vegas. The replica of the kitchen, featured on the hit American reality television show, has already captured the imagination of many visitors to Sin City wishing to dine in a restaurant operated by a chef awarded with 16 Michelin stars throughout his illustrious career. The restaurant, which opened on January 26, was designed in close collaboration with the show’s producers and designers to replicate the atmosphere of the “Hell’s Kitchen” reality show.
As with much of the dress code etiquette across Las Vegas and its casino floors, the new Hell’s Kitchen restaurant operates a relaxed, casual dress code. More than 12,000 reservations were made for the opening few days; such is the popularity of Ramsay’s fiery nature in the States. This restaurant is Ramsay’s fifth on the Las Vegas Strip, with the temperamental Scotsman feeling increasingly at home in Nevada.
The Hell’s Kitchen restaurant seats up to 300 guests per sitting and is a feast for the eyes. The restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling glazing provides spectacular panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip while the red and blue detailing perfectly replicates the look and feel of the show’s kitchen. There’s also a private dining room available for exclusive, VIP occasions, as well as a contemporary bar area, specialising in the latest mixology trends.
The “Hell’s Kitchen” reality cooking show is now broadcast in 110 countries around the world on the Fox network. Chef Ramsay plays the taskmaster host of the show as chefs battle it out each episode to become the eventual head chef of one of Ramsay’s own restaurants. Ramsay admitted upon the release of the restaurant that fans of the show “were hungry for a real-world Hell’s Kitchen restaurant,” but that he “didn’t fully realise just how enthusiastic the response would be.”
“Hell’s Kitchen” has now been running for 17 seasons in the United States, with the latest season wrapping up in early February. The eventual winner of season 17 was Michelle Tribble, who finished first out of 16 contestants to secure the $250,000 position of head chef at the new Hell’s Kitchen restaurant. Tribble, a Dallas-based chef, first took a shot at winning Hell’s Kitchen back in season 14 when she finished runner-up at the tender age of 22. After winning in season 17, Tribble became the youngest female chef to take the Hell’s Kitchen title since Holli Ugalde in 2010 (season 7). Despite the excitement of Tribble taking the crown, season 17’s ratings maintained the gradual decline in the popularity of the show. Some 3.13 million tuned in throughout the series, which is the lowest figure for a season so far and represents almost a third of its viewing peak in Season 3 (8.6 million).
The new Hell’s Kitchen restaurant becomes part of an eclectic mix of cafes and restaurants located within the Caesars Palace resort. There are 25 diverse eateries, including notable chef-branded restaurants owned by Guy Savoy, Nobu Matsuhisa and Brian Malarkey, as well as Gordon Ramsay. It’s fair to say that Caesars Palace is a must-visit for fanatical foodies in Vegas.
