Landman Season 2 is here, and which was confirmed as being renewed for this season in March 2025, although reportedly, Demi Moore (The Substance) had let the beans spil out of the bag before Season 1 was already released. I wonder which was correct?
Either way, this time round, she’s in charge of the company, as Cami Miller, because Monty’s heart attacks finally caught up with him, but how can she be in charge, when Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton – The Electric State) is technically President after Monty’s death? Well, Cami is the baddest bitch in the West. Fuck with her at your peril!
…And she proves that early on, with a speech to all the finance bods who bankroll her company.
Meanwhile, Cooper (Jacob Lofland – Joker: Folie À Deux) owns a well that’s just started doing far better than he ever expected, whilst looking forward to making a life with Ariana (Paulina Chávez), although you still have to bear in mind the danger of the job, given that it took the life of her husband, Elvio, in Season 1.
Luck is also on Ainsley’s (Michelle Randolph – 1923) side, as she’s applying for college for the sport of… cheerleading? Well, she’s good-hearted, but a bit mentally-challenged.
Plus, the cast is added to with heft in Sam Elliott (Grandma), as Tommy’s father – known as T.L., who’s in a care home, but it feels like he still lets his moustache do the talking 😀
There’s problems on the oil field – including some financial mumbo-jumbo which got a bit above my head, as well as in relationship-land – but then every woman Tommy meets seems to wear the trousers instead of him, but it’s all very stylish. Meanwhile, Tommy compares women arguing to watching monkeys sit in a zoo and “pick their asses”, and how if aliens came down, rounded humans up and studied us by putting us on TV when we’re at our most angsty. Very eloquent!
As before, Landman Season 2 is a bit soap-opery, but it’s hugely enjoyable – especially with Billy Bob Thornton’s wisecracking – and it’s like putting on a comfortable pair of slippers.
Oh, and we saw Andy Garcia (Expend4bles) pop up at the end of season 1, but what’s his interest this time round? Ah, you’ll have to watch to find that out!
Landman Season 2 also contains ten episodes, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it all pan out.
