New entries from No.41-75. See who missed out this time round :
“Familiar Feeling” was originally due for release last October. Don’t knowthe reason for the delay, but while it’s not a bad track, it’s far from thestunner that was the above two tracks and “Sing It Back” (No.4, Aug 1999)
5 Turin Brakes – Pain Killer”The Door” (No.67, Mar 2001) and “Mind Over Money” (No.31, Aug 2001) aretwo of the most incredible tracks I’ve heard in the past couple of yearsand last year’s “Long Distance” (No.22, Nov 2002) was a stormer too, butwhile I’m very pleased to see them in the Top 5, I do have to ask why, giventhe popularity of ‘Fame Pop Academy Rivals’ music and Justin Timberland’ssuccess. 1 (1) t.A.T.u – All The Things She Said *4th Week at No.1*This is the debut release for a Russian female duo, aged 18 (well, one is,and the other turns 18 later this month), portraying a couple of lesbianschoolgirls in the video, snogging away while a crowd of people look on frombehind a fence, all taking part in the pouring rain.
Perhaps there’s a message as to why all the people are standing behind afence – are they the ones who believe they have freedom while they’re reallythe trapped ones… or do the media just want to get off on the titilationof two young girls kissing and there’s no requirement for a credit card towatch it?
May 12th sees the release of their second single, Not Gonna Get Us,and if you’ve seen the uncut video you’ll know of a split-second momentthree-quarters of the way in which will never see the light of day over here.
