[Album Charts] [New Albums Release Info]
[Last week’s chart]
In the last chart of 1999, I posted my Top 50 singles of the year, pickingout the Top 10 first. During 2000, I’ll be going through the list one by onestarting with the Top 10 in alphabetical order.
This week : 11 new entries, 1 re-entry, 1 climbers, 0 non-movers & 27 downers.(* – my current favourites)
(!!! – Single Of The Week!!!)
(:O === the current all-time hate that makes even my smilie want to hurl!)
( (R) – Repeat., ie. a re-release)
A brief analysis on the current chart situation…
11 new entries and 1 re-entry :
The male singer sounds like he’s trying to be like John Lydon at times, while the female guitarist can almost be described as a dead ringer forNatalie Appleton 😉
58 Babybird – Out Of Sight *A fantastic record that’s had even more plays than Korn (below) on MTV2.Every time you watch the promo of a love affair beginning over the bowlinglanes, there’s always something else to see that you didn’t spot last time.
33 A-Ha – Summer Moved On *A brilliant return to the charts and a return to form for the three fromNorway. However, I knew it’d flop because it sounds like one of those first-ratealbum tracks that never make good singles. 32 Hybrid feat. Chrissie Hynde – Kid 2000Haven’t heard this but from the title it sounds like a dance remix.Still, it’s the only way she’ll get a hit these days. 25 Korn – Make Me Bad * !!!Hard and heavy, this is the last thing you’d expect to see in the chartsbut it’s bloody brilliant and has a fantastic video even if they have appearedto have copied “Alien Resurrection” and brought in Brigitte Nielsen. This is one of those tracks that gets endless plays on MTV2 (Sky ch.446)
10 Sia – Taken for Granted :O ===She looks pretty but it’s another dreadful record created by bastardisinga classical tune. 3 Bon Jovi – It’s My Life :O ===Oh God, they’re back! With more of that “mouth movement sounding like it’scoming out of a toilet” thru the microphone, it’s “Living on a Prayer”‘sworst nightmare! 2 S Club 7 – ReachAnother single, another TV series (LA 7), but this time it doesn’t reallystand out (the music that is) and it’s rather a dull, formulaic affair. 1 Sonique – It Feels So Good *1st Week at No.1*Never heard it so I don’t know how it feels! This single is the 18th in a row to go straight in at No.1.
