Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

    27 2Pac – Dear Mama

New track to be taken from the “Greatest Hits” album, but don’t go lookingfor Volume 2 any time in the future.

20 Charlotte Nilsson – Take Me To Your Heaven

Eurovision winner Swedish Charlotte Nilsson is blonde, pretty and that’s aboutit. It’s a perfect Eurovision song, but completely sucks when heard anytimeelse.

    15 Three Amigos – Louie Louie :O ===

Godawful dance ‘cover’ version with scratches aplenty. Alas, none on the backof the CD.

4 Jennifer Lopez – If You Had My Love

Debut solo single from the actress who recently made the big-time alongsideGeorge Clooney in “Out of Sight” and has now set her sights on a pop career.

She’s not new to music as she used to be a backing singer for Janet Jackson, but the song doesn’t sound out of the ordinary compared with most femalesolo soul singers these days.

    1. ATB – 9pm (Till I Come) * !!! *1st Week at No.1*

There’s not a lot I can say about this other than it’s been around in importform for quite a while and it’s the song with a ‘bendy synthesiser’ sound thatI’ve heard many times but the radio station NEVER said who they were playing!(Don’t you hate that?)

Probably the best dance track of the summer, although I think it’s been aroundsince last summer.

STOP PRESS: Mon 28th June: I found the cassette single in Our Pricetoday in Chester for 99p and managed to find a decent box that wasn’t smudgedwith stickyness from the price label. Since this is the first cassette singleI’ve bought in about 3 years I never thought to check the following, but whenI thought the bloke was going to get the tape from the back, he actuallychanged the box to one of those shitty cardboard ones. I only found this outwhen I was driving home. Methinks a letter to “Our Price Customer Services”is in order as it technically breaks the Trades Descriptions Act.

This is the 19th single to go straight in at No.1.

  • 1. Fatboy Slim – Praise You
  • 2. 911 – A Little Bit More
  • 3. Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • 4. Armand Van Helden featuring Duane Harden – You Don’t Know Me
  • 5. Blondie – Maria
  • 6. Lenny Kravitz – Fly Away
  • 7. Britney Spears – Baby One More Time
  • 8. Boyzone – When The Going Gets Tough
  • 9. B*witched – Blame It On The Weatherman

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1998

    27. Ian Brown – My Star

This was the first single from the ex-Stone Roses lead singer, proving inaddition to the Seahorses that there is plenty of life after the Stone Roses. As a result, it’s a catchy, memorable tune that deserved plenty of airplayand it made No.5 in January last year.

It was followed with two duff singles, “Corpses” (No.14, Apr 98) and”Can’t See Me” (No.21, June 98), as well as a jail sentence after gettingpissed on a plane and threatening a stewardess because he was a prick.

    The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me atCharts Request to tell me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
