In the last chart of 1999, I posted my Top 50 singles of the year, pickingout the Top 10 first. During 2000, I’ll be going through the list one by onestarting with the Top 10 in alphabetical order.
This week : 9 new entries, 1 climbers, 2 non-movers & 28 downers.(* – my current favourites)
(!!! – Single Of The Week!!!)
(:O === the current all-time hate that makes even my smilie want to hurl!)
( (R) – Repeat., ie. a re-release)
A brief analysis on the current chart situation…

- 14 Point Break – You
- 6 Santana feat. The Product G&B – Maria Maria

- 46 Fe-m@il – Flee Fly Fo
- 51 Less Than Jake – Best Friends are Metalheads
- 63 Clint Boon Experience – Do What You Do
However, such promotion should’ve been done when they were turning outclassics like “Tape Loop” and “The Music That We Hear”, not this formulaicsong which sets them apart from nobody.
28 Different Gear Vs The Police – When the World is Running DownI’ve heard a bit of this. It stinks. So does any other ‘dance’ singleso dumb enough to use “Vs” in the name. Replace “Vs” with “fucks up anothertrack by…” 21 Moloko – Pure Pleasure SpeakerStrangely makes you want to tap your foot even if it’s not that good andthe video’s terrible, making it look like they’re performing on “The Old GreyWhistle Test”, even going as far as to give back that hair to“Whispering” Bob Harris for a cameo. 2 Bomfunk Mc’s – Freestyler :O ===About as standard and generic as “dance” music can get and it’s totallyuninspired stuff. 1 Craig David – 7 Days :O === *1st Week at No.1*Why is all his music so turgid and dull? If he’s with the Artful Dodgerall you hear is the name “Craig David” over the music, while on his ownit’s about as engaging cleaning the fluff out of your navel. This single is the 25th in a row to go straight in at No.1.

Dominator’s Top 50 of 1999
31. Lenny Kravitz – Fly AwayAnother week, another No.1 and most people bought this on the strengthof the Peugeot car advert in which it was featured over the previous fewweeks, rather than the man’s musical talents.
Although his biggest hit before now was “Are You Gonna Go My Way”, it’s hisfirst album, “Let Love Rule”, which has been the best for me so far.
Topping the chart in February 1999, this was the sixth of 32 consecutive No.1sin a row last year, the spell being broken by Cliff Richard’s Millennium Poor.
The end bit :
Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me.
Bye for now,
