Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

55 Space Cowboy – I Would Die 4 UThis is Fatboy Slim’s cover of the Prince track, but apparently thanks tothe record company putting too many versions of it on one or more of theformats, its chances of a Top 10 placing have been dashed.

9 Kelly Llorenna – Tell It To My HeartCover version of the Taylor Dayne original, which made No.3 in January1988, I’d have expected Anastacia to cover this instead given theirsimilarities.

This new release adds nothing to the original and makes you wonder why shebothered.

1 Elvis – A Little Less Conversation (remix) *3rd Week at No.1*

Decent track used in the Nike football adverts with Eric Cantona.Typically, though, it shoots straight to No.1 when it doesn’t deserve to.

This is the 14th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah – More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias – Hero
  • 4. Westlife – World of Our Own
  • 5. Will Young – Anything is Possible/Evergreen
  • 6. Gareth Gates – Unchained Melody
  • 7. Oasis – The Hindu Times
  • 8. Sugababes – Freak Like Me
  • 9. Holly Valance – Kiss Kiss
  • 10. Ronan Keating – If Tomorrow Never Comes
  • 11. Liberty X – Just a Little

27. Feeder – Buck RogersMaking No.5 in January last year, this is their biggest hit to date andis more of an upbeat track rather than a tribute to the 25th Century herowith the 70s haircut. It was followed by Seven Days in the Sun (No.14, Apr 2001), Turn (No.27, July)and Just a Day (No.12, Dec).Review copyright © Dominic Robinson, 2002.
