Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

31 Reel – You Take Me AwayAnother boy-band track and it’s terrible.

25 Bell and Spurling – Goldenballs (Mr Beckham To You)An even worse football song than Ant and Dec, if that’s possible.

18 Ozzy Osbourne – Dreamer/Gets Me Through”Dreamer” is a dire ballad, but I love “Gets Me Through”. A shame it floppedfirst time round as it’s a great effervescent rock track.

Obviously it’s been brought out to publicise his dire TV series which justisn’t interesting at all.

15 Sex Pistols – God Save the QueenNot No.1 this time then? 🙂

10 DJ Otzi – Hey Baby (R)A remix apparently, but sounds just the same.

3 Ant and Dec – We’re on the Ball :O ===A bloody awful World Cup song. Avoid.

1 Will Young – Light My Fire *1st Week at No.1*

More a cover of the Jose Feliciano cover than the Doors original, but whileit’s not bad, it’s always ridiculously short for a single, barely lastingtwo minutes.

This is the 13th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah – More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias – Hero
  • 4. Westlife – World of Our Own
  • 5. Will Young – Anything is Possible/Evergreen
  • 6. Gareth Gates – Unchained Melody
  • 7. Oasis – The Hindu Times
  • 8. Sugababes – Freak Like Me
  • 9. Holly Valance – Kiss Kiss
  • 10. Ronan Keating – If Tomorrow Never Comes
  • 11. Liberty X – Just a Little
  • 12. Eminem – Without Me

Dominator’s Top 50 of 2001The following is my look back at my Top 50 of 2001.

23. Depeche Mode – Dream OnOne of two decent comeback singles released last year by them, this was a soft, subtle class track to drive to late at night, like in the video, bordered justright on the balance between ‘mean and moody’ and being catchy, this madeNo.6 in May last year. It was followed up by the equally excellent”I Feel Loved” (No.12, Aug 2002)Review copyright © Dominic Robinson, 2002.
