so the following dropped out :
7 climbers :
5 non-movers :
and 22 going down. Big fallers include :
New entries from No.41-75. See who missed out this time round :
- Further to my comments below, the Top 75 will be back from w/e Jan 24th 2003and the lower entries here, courtesy of a couple of kind individuals, are asfollows:
- Since Dotmusic’s site no longer gives out the Top 75, and the onlyrealistic option is BBC Ceefax (since Dotmusic’s merger with anothersite isn’t even updated on a Sunday evening – the lazy bastards canadd ‘news’ about who’s at No.1, but not print the charts!), I don’thave access to the Top 75.
Shoot From The Hip
Another single from her current album, and it really reaches new depths ofbanality. Where’s the passion of the songs she sang with Theaudience? Where’sthe funk of Groovejet?
I used to enjoy listening to Jonathan Ross’ BBC Radio 2 show on a Saturdaymorning, but when I heard him fawning over the dire album tracks played as heinterviewed her, he lost a listener just as Sophie’s lost *her* audience!
Let Your Head Go
There are two questions in life that need answers: Why does Victoria Beckhamthink she still has a music career in the UK? And why did Top of the Pops, sorry, All New Top Of The Pops, or as I call it, All New And LoathsomeTop Of The Pops – or ANALTOTP for new producer and all-roundpointles individual Andi Peters and his new permanent bum-chum presenter,Tim Kash, who couldn’t present himself let alone a TV show.
“But if she has no music career, how can she have a No.3 hit single?”,I hear VB’s only fan cry!
Because it’s only through sheer hype and weeks of marketing, that won’t berecovered by its poor sales, and the fact that there was no competition forit out this week, that its got where its got.
Her last album spawned only a couple of singles, Not Such An Innocent Girlwhich missed out on the No.1 slot, as did her 2000 hit Out of Your Mind, that one in favour of Sophie Ellis Bextor (coincidence has led tospeculation by about three people in the country that the two are “chart rivals”),the second single scraped into the Top 10 and the album sold even less andhas disappeared without trace.
Posh Spice so wanted to have a No.1 hit, but it’s not going to happen, andif you can’t get a No.1 in the quietest week of the year then you’re reallystuffed. Expect this to fall drastically next week, a second single to scrapeinto the Top 20 in the coming months, and an album to do even worse thanRachel Stevens’ debut at No.79.
Some of us can see further than the one single, Victoria. Now do what GeriHalliwell did and “quit Britain” (what a stupid phrase) for sunnier climes.Oh hang on, Halliwell’s back with another album in 2004…. Damn!
Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets
The surprise Xmas hit, and taken from the soundtrack of 2001’s sleepermovie success, Donnie Darko
This is a cover of the Tears For Fears single, and excellently haunting it istoo. Glad to see it came to the fore after being picked up on by radio stationsplaying it rather than the likes of Pop Idol force-feeding their tripe downour throats.
