26 The Divine Comedy – Love What You Do *And this middle-of-the-road coasting-along track is a good one, but what’swith the Crispian Mills-a-like haircut?

24 Caprice – Once Around The SunHer first single, “Oh Yeah”, also stiffed at No.24 (Sep 99) and it ledher to retreat and look at making some decent music instead. Clearly ithasn’t worked and she’s back with more duff rubbish.

21 (6) A1 – No MoreSo much for “Best Newcomer” at the Brits. On the strength of this drop,they won’t be around for long.

18 Human Nature – He Don’t Love You :O ===It’s that incredibly shite track from Neighbours, a couple of weeks back,when everyone went to a beauty pageant-type thing and even the “olds” werebopping along to this rubbish. I thought the band were a joke at first. NowI know they are.

9 Manic Street Preachers – Found That Soul
8 Manic Street Preachers – So Why So SadI haven’t heard the second one yet, but in a bizarre marketing plan they’vereleased two singles at the same time.

As for “So Why So Sad”, it’s not that good and sounds like a low-rent”Everything Must Go” at times. No doubt there’s some deep political messagein there but it’s lost on me.

5 Nelly Furtado – I’m Like a BirdIntensely dull and annoying, plus it’s very repetitive, repetitive,repetitive….

1 Shaggy feat. Rikrok – It Wasn’t Me *1st Week at No.1*

Selling over 100,000 copies in its first week after being snapped up onimport so much that it even hit the Top 40 in that guise.

It’s a decent tune, but yet another one where the guest singer appears todo more than the actual main one.

This is the 5th single to go straight in at No.1 :

10. Soulwax – Much Against Everyone’s AdviceAnother of those “should’ve been a monster” tracks – only making No.56 inJune last year – and another track with endless plays on MTV2. It startssoftly, then breaks out into an engaging rock tune that deserves to be playedLOUD!
