Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

Pet Shop Boys:
Pop Art

12 Pet Shop Boys – Flamboyant

After some very questionable tracks from their last album, Release, compared towhat had gone before – which was reflected by the fact that it only spawned two, lacklustre, singles in this country, Home And Dry and I Get Along – last year’sMiracles was a good start but this latest single really is a return to form in itspacing and style.

Infectious from the start, Flamboyant would make a great place to join back into the PSB’scatalogue if you’ve found yourself straying for good reason.

Atomic Kitten:
Ladies Night

8 Atomic Kitten – Someone Like Me / Right Now 2004

They’ve finally admitted their splitting up and I haven’t heard the first track, but to release a ‘remix’ of their first single is just to insult the fans.

Good riddance AK, and take your whiny Scouse voices with you.

McFly: 5 Colours In Her Hair

1 McFly – 5 Colours in Her Hair *1st Week at No.1*

Or “Busted Jnr”.

If you thought Busted’s music was trite then you haven’t heard the output from thepretenders to their throne, who have taken their name from the surname of Michael JFox’s character Marty in the Back To The Future.

This is the 2nd new single to go straight in at No.1 in a row:

  • 1. Usher – Yeah!
  • 2. McFly – Five Colours in Her Hair
