    Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

    47 The Beautiful South – The Table
    45 Tina Cousins – Forever
    43 Dwight Yoakam – Crazy Little Thing Called Love

    I expected more from these three this week, with chart-regulars The BeautifulSouth, new hit soulstress Tina Cousins, the song being one of the better dancereleases of the moment, and Dwight Yoakam with the music from thecountry-and-western GAP clothes ad.

    33 Jungle Brothers – VIP * !!!

    I wouldn’t normally entertain this band on my radio but on the few times I’veheard this, it’s obvious it’s a decent, funky track for blasting out loud.

    29 Celine Dion – Treat Her Like a Lady

    Her heart may go on, but not the hits it seems.

    14 Mel G – Word Up :O ===

    And the same goes for the Spice Girl whose marriage is on the rocks and herchart status is going tits up as well with this flop.

    6 Lolly – Viva La Radio :O ===

    Godawful pop pap for 5-year-olds and under.

    2 Will Smith – Wild Wild West

    Wasn’t bad when I first heard this but I’ve grown tired of it now. It’s the themetune for his new film directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and the last time they teamedup was for 1997’s Men In Black.

    I wonder if Barry Sonnenfeld’s changed his name by deed poll to “the man who madeMen In Black”, as that’s all he’s ever referred to when this new film ismentioned (!)

    1. ATB – 9pm (Till I Come) * *2nd Week at No.1*

    There’s not a lot I can say about this other than it’s been around in importform for quite a while and it’s the song with a ‘bendy synthesiser’ sound thatI’ve heard many times but the radio station NEVER said who they were playing!(Don’t you hate that?)

    Probably the best dance track of the summer, although I think it’s been aroundsince last summer.

    STOP PRESS: Mon 28th June: I found the cassette single in Our Pricetoday in Chester for 99p and managed to find a decent box that wasn’t smudgedwith stickyness from the price label. Since this is the first cassette singleI’ve bought in about 3 years I never thought to check the following, but whenI thought the bloke was going to get the tape from the back, he actuallychanged the box to one of those shitty cardboard ones. I only found this outwhen I was driving home. Methinks a letter to “Our Price Customer Services”is in order as it technically breaks the Trades Descriptions Act.

    This is the 19th single to go straight in at No.1.

  • 1. Fatboy Slim – Praise You
  • 2. 911 – A Little Bit More
  • 3. Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • 4. Armand Van Helden featuring Duane Harden – You Don’t Know Me
  • 5. Blondie – Maria
  • 6. Lenny Kravitz – Fly Away
  • 7. Britney Spears – Baby One More Time

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1998

    28. Imani Coppola – Legend Of A Cowgirl

    This one-hit wonder made No.32 for a week before dropping out again inFebruary last year. I’d heard it a number of times before I realisedwho it was as it never gives the title away.

    IIRC, the promo video allows Ms. Coppola to indulge herself in her favouritefantasies.

    The song was scheduled to be followed-up with “I’m a Tree” but that either nevermade the Top 200 or was withdrawn.

    The end bit :

    Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me atCharts Request to tell me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
