12 4 The Cause – Stand By Me :O ===A family group, not unlike the Jacksons, doing a dire cover of Ben E King’s”Stand By Me”. Pass.
8 Ace Of Base – Cruel Summer :O ===Something equally tragic here. Bananarama’s excellent original reached thesame spot in the summer of 1983, although the dire Stock/Aitken/Waterman remixsix years later could only manage No.19. If it ain’t broke, why fix it?
5 Placebo – You Don’t Care About UsI’d like to say something positive about this but I haven’t heard it anywhere.I rarely listen to Radio 1 so they might have been playing it, but I haven’tseen it on VH1 or heard it on local radio. Perhaps their fans have just beenbuying this in the first week and it’ll drop like a stone next week?

This was an excellent first Top 40 hit making No.37 in November last year,but they have struggled to follow it up with another hit. “Untouchable” shouldhave done the business before this one, but it took a re-issue of “MondayMorning 5:19” to make No.20 in January this year before the public took notice.
Since then they made No.39 with “Dream Another Dream” in March this yearand released “Summer’s Over” on September 28th this year but it never madeit into the Top 40. When will their time come?
