Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

21 A Teens – Super TrouperIt’s the young-ABBA again and yes, it is that dreadful.

12 Celine Dion – That’s The Way It IsRejoice, for this is the last you’ll have to hear from her for the nextyear or so!

10 Atomic Kitten – Right NowAnother teen girl-band. Haven’t heard it, but are they necessary?

1 (1) Cliff Richard – The Millennium Prayer :O === *2nd Week at No.1*The Lord’s Prayer set to the music of Auld Lang Syne. Sounds like a dreadfulprospect, and I’ve now heard the record. It’s even worse.

The music and the lyrics don’t go together at all. None of it scans, andthe worst bit is that which made me cringe – the ending. As he’s about toclose, he starts going on chanting “Amen…Amen…Amen…Amen…” etc.

It makes me want to scream at him to stuff his God shite up his arse!Definitely the worst single ever made.

And thanks to Cliff, he breaks the record-breaking run of 32 singles goingstraight in at No.1 which concluded, thus :

  • 1. Fatboy Slim – Praise You
  • 2. 911 – A Little Bit More
  • 3. Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • 4. Armand Van Helden featuring Duane Harden – You Don’t Know Me

  • 6. Lenny Kravitz – Fly Away
  • 7. Britney Spears – Baby One More Time
  • 8. Boyzone – When The Going Gets Tough
  • 9. B*witched – Blame It On The Weatherman
  • 10. Mr Oizo – Flat Beat
  • 11. Martine McCutcheon – Perfect Moment
  • 12. Westlife – Swear It Again
  • 13. Backpassage Boys – I Like It That Way
  • 14. Boyzone – You Needed Me
  • 15. Shanks and Bigfoot – Sweet Like Chocolate
  • 16. Baz Luhrmann – Everybody’s Free (To Wear Sunscreen)

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1998

    50. Touch & Go – Would You…?

Released in November last year when it made No.3, the first time I heard thisI thought it was excellent. It’s a dance track with occasional trumpet soloswhich reminds me of The The’s Infected, with an added female voice thatspeaks occasional come-on lines like “Would you like to go to bed with me ?”

Not long after though, since it had been used on so many trailers or piecesof incidental music on TV, I soon grew tired of it.

Also, before I saw the promo you could use your own imagination as to theidentity of the voice behind the song. When I saw it, boy was she such amoose! Looked like she’d been beaten with an ugly stick!

    The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me atCharts Request to tell me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
