Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

23 Def Leppard – NowCan anyone say ‘Bryan Adams’ ?

21 Royksopp – Remind Me/So Easy”So Easy” has been used in a car advert recently, while another track oftheirs, “Eple”, was used in the background for Big Brother 3 when going behindthe scenes.

18 Toploader – Time of My LifeAlmost as tedious as their cover of “Dancing in the Moonlight”

8 Bowling For Soup – Girl All the Bad Guys WantThe sort of thing you’d expect from Blink 182 and Sum 41, but not quiteas good.

3 Madhouse – Like a PrayerDire dance version of Madonna’s track. Why do they bother? Still there’san even worse cover of “Papa Don’t Preach” to come from Ozzy’s daughter.

2 Coldplay – In My PlaceThe first new single in a while, but compared to “Trouble” and “Shiver”,this one seems a little too formulaic and dull.

1 Darius – Colourblind *2nd Week at No.1*

Not a bad debut for the Popstars joke, following his Britney “cover”and you have to hand it to him to ditching the idea of covering anothersong and going for his own composition which, itself, is not bad. It’seven quite listenable.

This is the 16th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah – More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias – Hero
  • 4. Westlife – World of Our Own
  • 5. Will Young – Anything is Possible/Evergreen
  • 6. Gareth Gates – Unchained Melody
  • 7. Oasis – The Hindu Times
  • 8. Sugababes – Freak Like Me
  • 9. Holly Valance – Kiss Kiss
  • 10. Ronan Keating – If Tomorrow Never Comes
  • 11. Liberty X – Just a Little
  • 12. Eminem – Without Me
  • 13. Will Young – Light My Fire
  • 14. Elvis – A Little Less Conversation (remix)
  • 15. Gareth Gates – Anyone of Us
  • 16. Darius – Colourblind
