24 Bjork – All Is Full Of Love * !!!

This single is a glorious ballad and a very memorable one which deservs a muchhigher chart placing than this. It’s also the first chart-eligible DVD singleto be released, a review of which can be found on my DVD reviews page.

The first track is the video itself – a science-fiction love story that starsBjork as a robot and is directed by Chris Cunningham who has previously workedwith Madonna and Portishead, as well as turning the Aphex Twin into a woman.Chris worked day and night for weeks, painstakingly turning Bjork into a robot,but claims it was worth it and that it’s his best video to date. It’s certainlyvery impressive and you’ll find it hard to spot the joins.

2 Madonna – Beautiful Stranger *

First single to be released from the new Mike Myers film, Austin Powers: TheSpy Who Shagged Me, the title for which is being reduced to “Austin Powers 2″to avoid causing offence. If that’s the case, what on earth did they do forthe dance drama “Shag” in 1987 ?

As for the single itself, it took a little getting into but has a catchy chorusonce you do and Maddie looks similar here to her Ray of Light promo 😉

1 S Club 7 – Bring It All Back * *2nd Week at No.1*

With their own TV show on BBC1 (Thurs, 5.10, until 1st July) and managed bySimon Fuller, this band are Steps meet Spice Girls, but with 7 instead of 5.The TV show is interesting, to say the least, but you have nothing to feelguilty about as they are all aged between 18 and 22. 🙂

This is the 17th single to go straight in at No.1.

25. George Michael: Outside

Promoting his greatest hits album as well, this track makes light of hisarrest in a public toilet in the land of the free for pulling his Pilsner inthe wrong place at the wrong times and the dodgy video takes things one stepfurther. The track is a funky one, a la “Star People” and it made No.2 inOctober last year after being kept from the top slot by Cher’s “Believe”.
