Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

39 Status Quo – The Way It Goes

First single in ages and a low position with few sales is “The Way It Goes” 🙂

12 Beautiful South – How Long’s a Tear Take To Dry?

I’ve only heard this briefly. Sounds okay and the promo video pays homageto Scooby Doo.

    11 Roxette – Wish I Could Fly

First new single in a number of years while the Roxette duo have been off makingbabies (not with each other). It’s not bad, but it’s okay.

5 Manic Street Preachers – You Stole The Sun From My Heart *

Third single from the “..Truth” album and like most Manics tracks it’s betterthan most things on the chart, but in comparison with their other singlesthis is the “Australia” from the album – okay but nowhere near as good as theirbest.

2 Steps – Better Best Forgotten

Couldn’t have put it better myself…

    1 Boyzone – When The Going Gets Tough :O === *2nd Week at No.1*

Take the Billy Ocean No.1 original, remove all the impact that the song hadwhen you first heard it, stick a “CON-ic Relief” sticker on it, and you havethe latest charity single, put out so we can buy it and all feel better aboutourselves for subsiding worldwide poverty, while the Government are outspending Âœ800 million on a stupid dome.

This is the 8th single to go straight in at No.1.

  • 1. Fatboy Slim – Praise You
  • 2. 911 – A Little Bit More
  • 3. Offspring – Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • 4. Armand Van Helden featuring Duane Harden – You Don’t Know Me
  • 5. Blondie – Maria
  • 6. Lenny Kravitz – Fly Away
  • 7. Britney Spears – Baby One More Time
  • 8. Boyzone – When The Going Gets Tough

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1998

    12. Beautiful South – Perfect 10

Single-of-the-week in October last year was this No.2 hit, a funky first releasefrom the album, “Quench”, about the size of a woman’s figure, unless they’vegot a hidden agenda…

It was followed two months later with “Dumb”, making only No.16 but beingno worse off for it in terms of musical quality and it also had a 2.35:1widescreen promo video to boot 🙂

The third single from the album, “How Long’s a Tear Take To Dry?” went intothis week’s chart at No.12.

    The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me atCharts Request to tell me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
