Saint Etienne – Tell Me Why (The Riddle) *More breathy vocals from Saint Etienne, leading to another excellent tune. 4 Armand Van Helden – KoochyIsn’t Koochy a type of illegal drug? Either way, this crap is a dire”remix” of Gary Numan‘s Cars, although it’s barely any different. 3 Tom Jones & Mousse T – Sex Bomb :O ===Definitely up for an Ivor Novello award, the lyrics go :“Sex Bomb, Sex Bomb, you’re a Sex Bomb”

1 Madison Avenue – Don’t Call Me Baby *1st Week at No.1*Flopping at No.30 last November, a re-release makes it a No.1 hit.Not a bad dance tune, but nothing that’ll stand the test of time either.This single is the 16th in a row to go straight in at No.1.

20. Culture Club – Cold ShoulderThey didn’t make much of a comeback in 1998 after a long time away,while 1999 was even a worse year for them. However, Cold Shoulder(No.43, Nov 99) was quite a classy ballad and backed by a cover ofDavid Bowie’s Starman.
The first two singles were I Just Wanna Be Loved (No.4, Oct 98)and Your Kisses Are Charity (No.25, Aug 99), neither of whichwere much cop.
