Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

8 New Order – Crystal *The first new material from them since 1993 and a great dance/rock trackthat’s getting plenty of airplay on MTV2. Still no idea what it’s about though.

5 Jamiroquai – Little LA song about having a crap lovelife, hence you are loved with a “Little L”and not a “Big L”. Standard stuff from Jay Kay. Nothing exciting.

4 Eve & Gwen Stefani – Let Me Blow Ya MindA crap female rapper and the lead singer of No Doubt (what happened to them?)team up for this duff song.

2 Sophie Ellis Bextor – Take Me HomeAn okayish cover of an old Cher song. Not a patch on her “Groovejet” trackfrom a year ago.

1 Five – Let’s Dance *1st Week at No.1*

Bog standard Five track. That’s all, really.

This is the 9th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

Dominator’s Top 50 of 2000

34. Melanie C – I Turn To YouMaking No.1 in August last year, this track was terrible in its slow form, but the dance mix is blisteringly brilliant. Quite possibly one of the fewdance tracks that can make you feel like you’re back in a club when you’rereally driving to work.

Other hits last year were “Never Be The Same Again” (No.1, April 2000)and “If That Were Me” (No.18, Dec 2000).
