Dominator’s Top 50 of 1999

47. Texas – Summer SonThe output from Sharleen Spiteri and the band is getting more formulaic anddull as of late, but this was their only decent release of last year makingNo.5 in August 1999.

The second track from “The Hush” and a rather good energetic one that’s wellworth blasting out of the car radio, the promo video was been banned from mostchannels for screening pre-7pm, before which time they can only play a liveversion.

The ‘saucy’ promo though is nothing of the sort – just Sharleen writhing abouton a bed with a bloke – the sort of thing that passionate teenagers, a largepart of their audience, will be getting up to anyway, so I don’t see the bigdeal.

Their other singles were In Our Lifetime (No.4, May 99) andWhen We Are Together (No.12, Nov 99).

The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me.

Bye for now,

Dominator
