A brief analysis on the current chart situation…
11 new entries :
Two in a Million is their Xmas ballad and the other track is a more upbeatnumber. Two in a Million featured heavily in their recent “Boyfriends andBirthdays” TV special, adding weight to the fact that every time they releasea single they have to have a new TV show on.
4 Cuban Boys – The Hamster DanceApparently there’s a website which is very popular and features hamstersdancing. This song was made for a laugh, but it’s done very well. 3 John Lennon – Imagine (R)It made No.6 in November 1975 and No.1 in December 1980 when it wasre-released after his death on December 8th that year. Now it’s beenre-released again.However, I’m more of a fan of the more obscure or offbeat Lennon/Beatlestracks such as “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite”, “A Day in the Life”and “Instant Karma” and I find “Imagine” a very boring, overplayed record.
1 (NEW) Westlife – I Have a Dream / Seasons in the Sun *1st Week at No.1*And so, we have this year’s Xmas No.1, a double bill of cover versionsfrom the Oirish boyband managed by Ronan Keating, who have scored theirfourth No.1 in a row.This week they have been mostly murdering Abba’s “I Have a Dream” andTerry Jacks’ “Seasons in the Sun”.
