Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

9 Allstars – The Land of Make BelievePresumably this is a cover of the Bucks Fizz single. If so, anyone who boughtit needs their head read.

8 Chemical Brothers – Star Guitar * !!!Easily the best single of the week with a captivating video. A relentlessbut tuneful track, but you’re best checking it out for yourself.

1 (NEW) George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R) *1st Week at No.1*

His first ever No.1 and re-released for charridee because he’s dead.

It’s far from his best track though. Should’ve re-released “When We Was Fab”instead.

Either way though, because this knocks Aaliyah off the top slot, that makesthe first ever time that there have been two consecutive posthumous No.1sin the chart.

This is the 2nd single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah – More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord (R)

Dominator’s Top 50 of 2001After last week’s look back at all the Top 50 tracks of last year, this week sees the list of my Top 50 of 2001. From next week I shallbegin my look back at them.

4. Goldfrapp – Lovely Head/PilotsMaking only No.68 in November last year, this was a double A-side for twofantastic tracks from pretty blonde Alison Goldfrapp that should’ve made theTop 10 had it been given some promotion at the right time.

“Pilots” is good enough on its own, while “Lovely Head” is the excellenthaunting track from the One2One mobile phone advert featuring Gary Oldman.
