Of this week’s highlights and lowlights…

23 JJ72 – Oxygen * !!!Single of the week goes to this epic masterpiece from the Irish 3-pieceband, following their “Long Way South” single which made No.69 in Juneand was one of those tracks that should’ve been a monster.

I’m not sure quite why “we don’t need oxygen”, but the video features fartoo much of the lead singer and not enough at all of the achingly-gorgeousguitarist Hilary. 🙂

2 True Steppers / Dane Bowers / Victoria Beckham – Out of Your Mind :O ===The first single for Posh Spice, ‘duetting’ with the ex-Another Level poser, and what a poor effort it is. With vocals turned upside down and made to soundlike they’re coming out of a toilet, the entire thing is a mess.

“This tune’s gonna punish you” ? Only if you try to listen to it.

1 Spiller – Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love) * *1st Week at No.1*All week long there’s been a battle between Ibiza-tune kings and Posh Spice. The better of the two won out, unlike the berks at CD:UK on ITV who swappedthe positions around.

Featuring the vocals of ex-Theaudience’s Sophie Ellis-Bextor (daughter ofJigsaw/Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis), this song also featured over theBBC self-trailer for their “One Summer of Love” tour.

This single is the 28th in a row to go straight in at No.1.

  • 1. Westlife – I Have a Dream / Seasons in the Sun
  • 2. Manic Street Preachers – The Masses Against the Classes

    Dominator’s Top 50 of 1999

    34. Melanie C: Northern StarMaking No.4 in December last year, What’s this? Mel C in “good song” shock?Yes!

I first heard this on Radio 2, of all stations. Took me a while to work outwho it was as it sounded a long way from “Going Down”. It’s a very softballad and worth many a listen. Shame she looks so ridiculous these days.

Her other three singles released have been “Goin’ Down” (No.4, Oct 99),”Never Be The Same Again” (No.1, April 2000) and last week’s No.1single “I Turn To You”.

    The end bit :

Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me.

    Bye for now,

    Dominator
