[Album Charts] [New Albums Release Info]
[Last week’s chart]
In the last chart of 1999, I posted my Top 50 singles of the year, pickingout the Top 10 first. During 2000, I’ll be going through the list one by onestarting with the Top 10 in alphabetical order.
This week : 11 new entries, 1 re-entry, 1 climbers, 3 non-movers & 24 downers.(* – my current favourites)
(!!! – Single Of The Week!!!)
(:O === the current all-time hate that makes even my smilie want to hurl!)
( (R) – Repeat., ie. a re-release)
A brief analysis on the current chart situation…
11 new entries and 1 re-entry :
21 Eagle-Eye Cherry – Are You Still Having Fun?Two people with a second album on the horizon and hoping for a comeback, but it won’t be a happy one on the poor performance of these singles. 9 Ricky Martin featuring Meja – Private EmotionA not-half-bad ballad from the Latino king with guest vocals from Meja, whose only other hit in the UK was All About the Money (No.12, Oct 98).
A review of his DVD, “One Night Only” will be coming soon, but until thentake a look at the review for :The Ricky Martin Video Collection
As I wrote in May 1998 when it got a mention as one of my Top 50 singles of1997, I noted that “In these days of dance tracks being endlessly rereleasedI hope this one comes out again soon…as long as they leave it as it is though.”
The good news is that this is the same track. The bad news is that it’s beenremixed to the point where the background music that made it special has beenremoved and now replaced with something that completely goes against the grain.A perfect example of turning good to shit.
This single is the 13th in a row to go straight in at No.1.

Dominator’s Top 50 of 1999
17. Adam Rickitt – I Breathe AgainYes, despite his failings since and that the only job he can get these daysis as guest presenter on Channel 5’s “Exclusive”, I quite enjoyed his firstsingle which made No.5 in June last year.
He played Coronation Street’s second Nick Tilsley and the track was producedby Pete Waterman. It certainly shows it but that said it’s rather good. Hecould be our answer to Jason Donovan, in the nice way of producing jolly poptunes, and not in the bad way of becoming a drug addict and being accused ofbeing gay.
It was followed up by two singles that didn’t perform as well, EverythingMy Heart Desires (No.15, Oct 99) and Best Thing (No.25, Feb 2000),as well as an album Good Times, which experienced none of those goingstraight in at No.41 in October last year and then falling out of the chartnever to return…
If you think he made a mistake to leave a top soap for pop stardom, just waituntil you have to endure the shite offered by Sid Owen (aka Eastenders’Ricky Butcher).
The end bit :
Well, that’s it for now. If you want to be added to the WidescreenVideo and Laserdisc lists, just mail me.
Bye for now,
