Take a 500-horsepower ride through a three day car sale with The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, a raunchy, risqué and politically incorrect comedy from the makers of Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, released on DVD on 22 February 2010 from Pathé Productions Ltd. Co-produced by Will Ferrell, and starring award-winning actors Jeremy Piven and Ving Rhames, The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard tells the story of hard-living car salesman and his outrageous team as they are hired to save a failing small-town dealership.
Salesman Don Ready (Piven; Entourage, RocknRolla) is a legend – a rock star in the used car business, a boozing, stripper-loving cowboy who just cant settle down. Don and his crew are mercenaries, hired guns who sell the unsellable with an unshakable commitment to 100% honesty, 20% of the time.
Ben Selleck (Josh Brolin) is down on his luck saddled with an ailing family motor business and a lackluster sales force, he needs to liquidate his inventory over one wild three day weekend. When local competitor Paxton Harding (Ed Helms, The Hangover) makes Ben an offer to buy the car lot and turn it into a recording studio for a local boy band, Don adds interest to the deal with a high stakes wager: either he and his team sell every car on the lot or the dealership goes to Harding and Don walks away from the car business forever.
The locals can hardly believe their eyes as Don meets the challenge head-on, with a campaign involving TV adverts, strippers, an inflatable gorilla, free hot dogs and a no-show musical performance which causes a riot. However, on the cusp of success Don encounters a surprise bump in the road, as the former ladies man discovers a heart he never knew he had and its broken. As Don goes AWOL, the fate of the car dealership hangs in the balance, and its down to his crew and Sellecks motley team of salesmen to put the pedal to the metal one last time.
