Network DVD is delighted to announce the release of DES OCONNOR VOLUME 1 (E) on 22nd June 2009 in a 2-disc set, RRP £19.99. This is the first time that this show will be available to buy on DVD anywhere in the world.
Des landed his own show in 1963 – which ran for over 45 years longer than any other entertainment host in the world. A versatile singer, talk show host, comedian and all round entertainer, Des O’Connor CBE has been at the forefront of Light Entertainment since he first made his way onto television screens in the 1950s. His successful black and white 1960s variety series – The Des O’Connor Show – was so popular that it was launched in 1970 as a colour production and garnered him a massive international following, being shown all over the world and broadcast prime-time in the USA.
This unique 2-disc set contains all the best bits of this hit 1970 series, featuring a wonderful mixture of comedy and music. Special guests include Britt Ekland, Roy Castle, Terry Thomas, Val Doonican, Dusty Springfield, Liberace, Jimmy Edwards, Lonnie Donegan, Sacha Distel, Sandie Shaw, Matt Monro, Roy Hudd and Harry Secombe. This set also features Des regulars Jack Douglas (more often than not in the guise of Alf Ippititimus) and the statuesquely gorgeous Valerie Leon in over five hours of unforgettable entertainment from the seventies.

Des OConnors album, titled Inspired comprises 18 songs, co-written by Des and the brilliant Alan Hawkshaw who has worked with Elvis and Barbra Streisand is also being relaunched on 22nd June.
The DVD is released on June 22nd, it runs for 307 mins and retails for £19.99 on DVD,but is currently on Amazon at the link above for £12.98.
