Breed is included on NVIDIA’s The Way It’s Meant To Be Played campaign

Breed, the stunning first-person shoot-‘em-up due to be published by CDVSoftware Entertainment later this year, is continuing to win awards andhonours from the industry. The title, being developed by newcomer BratDesigns, is one of the latest to be signed up by the market-leadinggraphics processing unit (GPU) developer NVIDIA Corporation for its TheWay It’s Meant To Be Played (TWIMTBP) programme. This programme isdesigned to showcase the very best PC games which take advantage of thehardware features of NVIDIA’s award-winning GeForce technology.

“This is quite an accolade for a new development company and its firstgame,” says Terry Malham, CDV’s UK president. “CDV spotted Breed’spotential at an early stage, but it’s always good to have your beliefsconfirmed by a market giant such as NVIDIA.”

“We believe in championing developers and giving them whatever supportthey need to create the very best PC games possible,” says Darryl Still,head of developer relations for NVIDIA in Europe. “We have been liaisingwith Brat Designs on Breed for some months now and the game is shaping upto be one of this year’s ground-breaking titles.”

CoverBreed is being designed to run with DirectX 9.0, and incorporates many ofthe features specific to this latest version of Microsoft’s API. DeveloperBrat Designs has created its own game engine, the Mercury engine, to makefull use of next generation hardware, including graphics cards, withmulti-texturing, soft shadowing, reflection mapping and real-time adjusted‘time of day’ lighting, all featuring in the game’s environment.

The level of textural detail available in the game, both in characters andthe scenery, add greatly to the atmosphere. Featuring scenes of intensecombat between your soldiers and the robotic Breed which have colonisedEarth, players will have unprecedented freedom to roam and explore thehuge playing areas. With an interactive demo due shortly, gamers will soonbe able to sample an extract from the title for themselves.

Breed will be published by CDV Software Entertainment UK in the secondquarter of 2003, at a price to be confirmed.
