Drivable Vehicles, Fixed Gun Turrets, Vast Battlefields Highlight A War GameThat Pits SkyNet Terminators Versus Tech Com Special Forces
Atari will bring Terminator©3: War of the Machines?, a single-playerand online multiplayer first person shooter set in the ravaged battlefields ofthe Tech Com-versus-SkyNet conflict from the Terminator world, to personalcomputer (PC) this winter. Currently in development by Hungary-based Clever?sGames, Terminator 3: War of the Machines will allow up to 32 players toface off online as either technologically-advanced SkyNet Terminators orbattle-hardened Tech Com Special Forces in an epic multiplayer struggle for supremacy.
“Terminator 3: War of the Machines will capitalise on every aspect of thefeature film’s popularity, from a immersive storyline that closely follows the movie’sscript to the first ever appearance of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness andvoice in a videogame.” said Martin Spiess, Head of European Marketing for Atari.
Terminator 3: War of the Machines will place players at the very centerof the conflict outlined in the Terminator world the war with the sentientmachines. The battle will rage in single and multi-player modes across avariety of vast landscapes taken straight from the upcoming theatrical release,Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, including downtown Los Angeles, aruined ocean harbor, devastated highways, Tech Com and SkyNet bases, crumblingfactories and more.
In Terminator 3: War of the Machines vast multiplayer mode, playerswill compete online as either a member of Tech Com or as a SkyNet Terminatormodel. Eight playable character classes are available for SkyNet and Tech Comforces and up to 32 players can wage ware in each server. Humans will havethe advantage of cunning and stealth while SkyNet will bring to bear theawesome power of overwhelming force, brutality and durability. Each classwill offer unique advantages and disadvantages in numerous battle situations.For example, SkyNet T-900 Endoskeletons can utilise their unique vision toquickly and easily identify even the most camouflaged opponents, but will beunable to heal or repair themselves in combat like their human counterparts.
In the single player campaign, players will power on as the Terminator himself,Arnold Schwarzenegger, with full likeness and voice acting, to wage war alongsideSkyNet’s mechanical forces against the human Tech Com revolutionaries. Oncecaptured, however, the player is reprogrammed by Tech Com to fight for thehumans and the player battles against his former robotic allies.
Weapons in Terminator 3: War of the Machines will run the gamut from modernday and near-future weaponry, such as the M4A1, Desert Eagle and X-29, to thefuturistic weapons used by SkyNet, including phased plasma rifles and cannons.
A number of armored and weapon-equipped Tech Com and SkyNet vehicles will beat the player’s disposal both in single- and multi-player modes. Vehiclesincluded modified trucks, cars and personnel transports for the humans withmounted guns, plasma rifles and rockets.ÿ SkyNet vehicles include a variety ofland and air-based machines. These vehicles act as the classes for theTerminator team, meaning the gamer plays as an FK hover attack craft or HKtank, rather than manning them from the inside. In addition, the player willbe able to call in air strikes by targeting an object and issuing commands tooffscreen allies.
Terminator 3: War of the Machines will release for PC in Winter 2003.
