Based on Stan Lee’s classic Marvel comic book series, X-MEN introduces us tothe children born in a time when race and religion don’t separate people, butextra super-powers and mutated characteristics do. Born into a world filledwith prejudice, they possess extraordinary and dangerous powers – the result ofunique genetic mutations.

Storm (Academy Award(r) winner Halle Berry, Die Another Day) can manipulate theweather at will, the academy’s star pupil, Cyclops (James Marsden, DisturbingBehaviour) unleashes bolts of energy from his eyes, and Dr Jean Grey (FamkeJanssen, Goldeneye, Don’t Say a Word) has incredible telepathic abilities.

Under the tutelage of Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart, Star Trek),the world’s most powerful telepath, the mutants have learned to control and directtheir special powers for the greater good of mankind. Danger beckons whenXavier welcomes two newcomers: Wolverine (Hugh Jackman, Swordfish) a solitaryfighting machine who possesses amazing healing powers, and Rogue (Anna Paquin,The Piano, Almost Famous), an alienated teenage girl who can absorb the life forceof anyone she touches.

Openly opposed to non-mutant society is Xavier’s former partner, ErikLehnsherr, ‘The Master of Magnetism’ known as Magneto (Ian McKellen, Lordof the Rings). Backed by his brotherhood of evil mutants, Toad (Ray Park,Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace), Sabretooth (ex-WCW wrestler TylerMane) and the blue-skinned shape-shifter Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos,Femme Fatale). Magneto believes humans and mutants can never co-exist and unveilshis sinister plot for the future.

Directed by Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects), X-MEN explores the collisionbetween mutant minority and human majority, the result of which is a sleek,fast-moving sci-fi adventure that offers the ultimate in stand-out futuristicaction.
