Sade Aduhas recently returned to the fore with a single, By Your Side and anew album, Lovers Rock, which the British public has largely ignored,since it only just scraped the Top 20 upon its release, while the Americanshave lapped it up, placing it inside the Top 3.
What might have been her downfall though, is that she was only best known forher slow numbers and before I put this DVD on, it’s only those which I couldremember – Your Love is King, Smooth Operator, Sweetest Taboo and theslightly later Paradise, plus of course, that track from IndecentProposal, No Ordinary Love.
The mid-to-late nineties saw Sade completely disappear from public view, inthis country at least. What has she been up to? Either way, she’s back withthe aforementioned new album and two DVDs, this compilation and aLiveperformance, the latter two both from 1993.

Most of the videos are shot in 4:3 fullscreen, with a few having a slightmatted widescreen effect. As per the usual Sony effort, the picture is verygood, with just the older promos showing their age.The average bitrate is a very high 8.6Mb/s, often peaking over 9Mb/s.
The sound has been remixed for Dolby Digital 5.1, which breathes life intothe first set of songs whilst aiding the later ones.
Extras :The Discography shows the track listing for all of her albums,excluding the latest and the Biography runs to a few pages of info.Nothing major that you’ll really go back to.
There are subtitles in English, French and Spanish but the menus are silent andstatic.
Overall, this is well worth a look for any big Sade fan as it contains allher hits, but is it worth the full twenty quid? Either way, sit back andmarvel at one of pop’s ladies who never ages.
