The Book of Love is also known as The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea, but both are terrible titles for this drippy nonsense centred around Henry (Jason Sudeikis), an introverted architect. After the death of his wife, Penny (Jessica Biel – hence, cue music from her husband, Justin Timberlake) in a car accident, he sets out to help Millie (Maisie Williams), a homeless teen, to build a raft to sail across the Atlantic… like you do.
Directed by Bill Purple, who co-wrote this rubbish with Robbie Pickering (not Ronnie Pickerking… who?), the film also stars Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser and Orlando Jones.
The Book of Love is released in the US on January 13th 2017, but there’s no UK date as of yet. However, with that January date, and with non-Oscar films coming out in Jan/Feb doing so because they’re getting dumped outside of peak times, that explains this one. Avoid.
