PARAMOUNT
THE ITALIAN JOB (2003) will street on October 21st. The disc will beavailable in seperate anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) and fullscreenversions. Extras TBA.
- Excitement Factor: 7 out of 10. Heard really good things about this one,have to check it out on disc.
THE ITALIAN JOB (1969) will street on October 21st as well in ananamorphic widescreen transfer. Extras TBA.
- Excitement Factor: 6 out of 10. While nothing more than a shamelesstie-in to the remake it’s nice to see it finally come out.
BLACK SUNDAY, THE BROWNING VERSION, THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW, andLIPSTICK will street on October 14. Each title will be in it’s originalaspect ratio. Retail is $14.95 each.
- Excitement Factor: 5 out of 10. Nice to see Paramount finally droppingtheir retail prices.
STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER-COLLECTOR’S EDITION will street onOctober 14. Expect similar features akin to the other collector’seditions to these films.Retail is a surprisingly low $19.95.
- Excitement Factor: 7 out of 10. Should be another stellar reissue.
CAPTAIN KRONOS: VAMPIRE HUNTER, DRAGONSLAYER, and FRANKENSTEIN AND THEMONSTER FROM HELL will street on October 21. Each will be in it’soriginal aspect ratio. Retail is $14.95 each.
- Excitement Factor: 7 out of 10. Some really good titles in here andretail is pretty low.
COOL WORLD and FAIRYTALE: A TRUE STORY will street on November 11.Each title will be in it’s original aspect ratio but no extras areincluded. Retail is $14.95 each.
- Excitement Factor; 6 out of 10. I’ve actually been wanting COOL WORLD tocome out someday.
JOSEPH ANDREWS, KING DAVID, THE LAST TYCOON, OLIVER’S STORY, ONCE UPONA TIME IN THE WEST and PRETTY BABY will street on November 18. Eachtitle will be in it’s original aspect ratio. Extras TBA. Retail is$14.95 each.
- Excitement Factor: 8 out of 10. I’m sure movie buffs will appreciatethis line-up.
LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS, THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS (1970), PLAZA SUITE,and STAR SPANGLED GIRL will street on November 25. Each title will be init’s original aspect ratio and retail is $14.95 each.
- Excitement Factor: 4 out of 10. Eh.
THE GREAT GATSBY, HUD, THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED, WUTHERING HEIGHTS(1992), and YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES will street on December 2. Each titlewill be in it’s original aspect ratio. Retail is $14.95 each.
- Excitement Factor: 4 out of 10. THE GREAT GATSBY is one of the worstfilms ever produced.
COLUMBIA TRISTAR
Not much to do about nothing from Sony’s camp once again except for onetitle.
HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE will street on October 21. The disc will include ananamorphic widescreen transfer (2.40:1) but extras and retail are TBA.
- Excitement Factor: 4 out of 10. Time is not treating Mr. Harrison Fordwell.
MGM
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY will street on October 21 with an anamorphicwidescreen transfer (2.40:1). The disc will include commentary, deletedscenes, and more. Retail is $26.96
- Excitement Factor: 2 out of 10. Nothing more than a reason for theDouglas Clan to be on screen together.
CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG: 35TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION will street onNovember 25 with an anamorphic widescreen transfer (2.35:1). Retail is$29.95.
- Excitement Factor: 2 out of 10. Nails on a chalkboard as far as I’mconcerned but at least it finally gets widescreen treatement.
UNIVERSAL
2 FAST 2 FURIOUS will street on September 30 in seperate anamorphicwidescreen (2.40:1) and fullscreen transfers. Extras includefeaturettes, deleted scenes, and outtakes. Retail is $27.96.
WARNER BROS.
A CHRISTMAS STORY: SPECIAL EDITION will street on October 7. It will bea 2 disc set featuring anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) and fullscreentransfers. Extras TBA.
RUMORS
Take these with a grain of salt since they’re only tales and stories.
- THE HULK may street on October 28. Expect an announcement soon since menu screens have been released.
- X2: X-MEN UNITED may street on September 16 but this is looking lesslikely by the day. Fox needs to get off it’s ass and announce this pronto.
- FINDING NEMO may street on November 4.
- LEGALLY BLONDE 2: RED, WHITE, & BLONDE may street on November 11.
- TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES may street on November 18.
- PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL may street on December 2.
- SPY KIDS 3D: GAME OVER may street on March 3, 2004.
- THE HAUNTED MANSION is not even in theaters yet but rumors suggest an April 20, 2004 release on disc.
