In1970, over 600,000 went to the third and final Isle of Wight festivalwhich showcased bands such as : The Doors, Joni Mitchell, Sly and the FamilyStone, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Leonard Cohen, Jethro Tull, Emerson Lakeand Palmer, and of course THE WHO who stole the show when they came on stageat 2am on August 30th, giving what is reputed to be the finest performanceof their career.
The video features the earliest and most complete Who concert footage featuringKeith Moon on drums. Most of the footage has been previously unavailable onvideo until now, and includes the longest and most complete live performanceof the rock opera, Tommy, as it was originally performed.
Also included is the famous footage when at 4.15am in the small hours ofthe morning, The Who turned huge spotlights on the crowd from backstage, lighting up the masses including a flurry of moths, leaping like loons inthe vastness.
The picture quality is very good indeed considering it was shot 26 years ago,and the sound quality rocks big time, and could easily knock the likes ofOasis and Blur into a cocked hat.
The inside cover of the video sleeve features the original poster advert of theIsle of Wight Festival itself.
