Asda Chick does for Easter what Cat and Budgie did for Freeview, and Sing It Kitty did for Three.
I rather liked the Cat and Budgie advert too, as the two sang “You’re All I Need To Get By”, whereas the Sing It Kitty ad was rather lame by comparison as you’ve all tuned in to watch the CGI cat and he/she is hardly shown by comparison.
The #AsdaChick video sees Asda’s… erm… chick dancing to Funky Town, originally recorded by Lipps Inc., who took it to No.2 in May 1980. A cover version was recorded by Australian band Pseudo Echo in 1987, which did considerably better over there, lasting six weeks at No.1 instead of the original’s two.
