Atari 50 Anniversary Collection is out now, this review isn’t something that can just be described in mere words. I’ll be going through the whole collection, game by game.
So far, at the time of posting this, I have one video going through the new “Reimagined” games, one showing me attempting to get all five of the Confidential games (SPOILER: I’ve got 2 out of the 5 so far), and one showing all the arcade games which runs for TWO HOURS!
I’ll also be going through all the Atari 2600 games, and the other consoles as well. However, in analysing each game in turn, it’s not a quick process, so be sure to subscribe to my Youtube channel and check back regularly.
For now, in short, buy it, but bear in mind that not every compilation is going to include every game, or even every WORTHY game. For example, there’s no Activision or Imagic games on here. Presumably this is due to rights issues, but maybe some DLC further down the line can resolve this?
That said, ET: The Extra Terrestrial isn’t on here, either, and that IS an Atari game. Sure, it was far from great, but then Howard Scott Warshaw was only given six weeks to make it, in order to get it out to tie in with the release of the film. There’s some bugs in it, but even fans have since created a version which fixes them all, so could Atari licence that?
Check out all the gameplay videos below!
