Complete Unknown centres around Tom (Michael Shannon) and a mysterious woman called Alice (Rachel Weisz), and when the former and his wife host a dinner party for his birthday, one of their guests brings Alice as a date. Tom thinks he’s seen her somewhere before, despite her having a different name and backstory, yet she’s cocking a deaf’un (as we say oop North!). This leads to what the billing refers to as an “all-night odyssey” with the two characters, him needing to make a change in his life, and her questioning how to stop changing, so clearly she’s got something going on.
Directed by Joshua Marston, who co-wrote the script with Julian Sheppard, the cast also includes Kathy Bates, Danny Glover, and Condola Rashad, but looks like standard fare with nothing to get excited about, and everything you need to see is in the trailer.
Complete Unknown is out on August 26th in the US, but as of yet, there’s no UK release date.
