Cop Car centres around a pair of ten-year-olds – Harrison (Hays Wellford) and Travis (James Freedson-Jackson) – who find an abandoned cop car in a field.
When they take it for a joyride, it seems like they could kill themselves at any moment. But things only get worse when small town Sheriff Kretzer (Kevin Bacon) goes looking for his missing car. The kids find themselves in the center of a deadly game of cat and mouse they don’t understand and the only way out is to go as fast as their cop car can take them.
Also starring Shea Whigham and Camryn Manheim, this looks superb. There was a whiff of something nasty about to happen from the off, and with Bacon sneering his way back onto the big screen in a thriller instead of doing those godawful EE cinema and TV adverts, he looks to be back to what he does best.
Cop Car is released in the US on August 7th, but as of yet there’s no UK release date.
