Sesame Street: Friends and Fun: Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?
Well, it was initially broadcast by National Educational Television, in 1969, before moving over to PBS, six months later, in May 1970, and it was most likely a closed set, so you wouldn’t have been able to visit. Except when Kermit The Frog was having a coffee break.
Having been created by by Joan Ganz Cooney – who’s still going strong at 96, and Lloyd Morrisett, who passed away at 93 in 2023, the puppets were brought to life by the legendary Jim Henson, who sadly died in 1990 at just a mere 53 years of age, before later directing the stunning films, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
This new game brings the weird and colourful world to life, as you walk around the neighbourhood, the park and the funfair, collecting items and completely a number of mostly simple tasks.
It’s certainly fun, but occasionally does cause confusion, such as when I get some seeds from Abby for apples and lettuce – since Cookie Monster wants the end result, I then grow them, but then I don’t seem to have anything to give to him. Anyhoo, you have to go back to the farm area in order to do this, rather than use window boxes, which seem to work for other items.
As you progress through the game, your tasks get more complex, in that for example, when you have to make cookies for the Cookie Monster, you need seeds for the wheat to feed to hens to lay eggs, lettuce to feed to the cow so you get milk, and so on, before you eventually MAKE the cookie.
Since this all leads to where you get to a big party for the town, this is very reminiscent of last year’s Gabby’s Dollhouse: Ready to Party, but there’s also a ton of smaller, non-essential elements I ned to look at, such as fixing everything that’s broken (just a few button presses – wish it was that straight-forward at home!) or open up all the boxes for Grover’s Challenges.
Sesame Street: Friends and Fun is out now on PC/Steam, plus the respective online stores for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5 and Xbox.
