Cornwall departs Eidos

Eidos have announcedthat CEO Charles Cornwall has left the company, and has promoted COO MikeMcGarvey to the position.

A statement said that Cornwall “asked to be released to spend more time onhis Technology and Mining interests in the USA and South Africa”, and theannouncement ends six months of speculation over the future of the formerEidos boss.

As a result of Cornwall’s departure the Wimbledon based publisher alsoannounced the promotion of UK MD Jonathan Kemp to the position of EuropeanMD, where he will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, but willnot sit on the main Eidos Board.

Mike McGarvey said: “Since his appointment to the Board of Eidos in 1993,Charles Cornwall has made a substantial contribution to the Company and hasbeen one of the key architects of its intensive acquisition and investmentprogramme. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Charles for hiscontribution and wish him every success in the future.”

“Eidos is entering a new chapter and I look forward to working closely withthe rest of the management team to take Eidos forward to the next stage ofits development. Our strategy is to focus and build on our successful corebusiness and to deliver value for shareholders.”

Charles Cornwall commented: “I believe that Mike McGarvey is one of the mosttalented and capable executives in the interactive industry and as ashareholder I have every faith in his ability to optimise the Company’sdevelopment in the future.”
