The Blame centres around an investigation into police corruption, following the case of 16-year-old Sophie Madsen (Matilda Freeman – Passenger (2024)) having gone missing, btu the cops then find her body in the woods, so it turns into a murder investigation, led by DI Emma Crane (Stockport’s own Michelle Keegan – Fool Me Once) and DI Tom Radley (Douglas Booth – Pride And Prejudice And Zombies).
One potential suspect is her skating coach, Kyle Frasier (Joe Amstrong), with one cop potentially having the chance to interrupt the situation and doing nothing, who’s to blame?
Had she reported him to the police? Did she coach do anything dodgy? Are the cops dodgy? Is it all a big misunderstanding? What’s the colour of money? Don’t tell me that you think it’s green. Me, I know it’s red.
I don’t want to say too much before this is broadcast, obviously, but while there’s one or two old tropes in this – and it’s far from Line of Duty, it’s entertaining enough.
Meanwhile, as a couple of asides, when cops investigate a suspect’s house with another member of the team in a forensic ‘hazmat’-type suit, and the cops not even bothering to put shoe covers on – and EVERYONE is in the same room at the same time, how the hell does that work?
And when a particular individual leaves their phone available for anyone else to access it…. WHO DOES THAT? Okay, so it’s a TV drama, but still… come on!
The Blame begins tomorrow night at 9pm, and airs each Sunday and Monday night. From day one, the whole series will be available to watch on ITVX.
It’s not yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but when it is, it will be listed on the New DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K releases UK page.
