CoverMOVIE NEWS 9/11Oliver Stone’s (right) untitled film about the events of September 11 2001, willfocus on the last two people to be pulled from the rubble of the TwinTowers. Stone’s movie will be released on August 11 2006.

‘Paramount’ executive Wayne Lewellen has said of the release date: “First ofall, you wanted to be out before September 11th,. You really didn’t want tobe on that date because you don’t want it to appear that we were trying toexploit it.”

In related news, director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) is alsoreadying a 9/11 movie, entitled Flight 93 – about events on the hijackedplane that crashed into a field. Interestingly, the movie will take place inreal time.

GONER’Universal Pictures’ has acquired Goner, a fantasy thriller spec script JossWhedon (Serenity) wrote and will direct, reports ‘Variety’.

Whedon: “It’s the story of a young woman’s journey that involves a greatdeal of horror and some heroics. It’s certainly darker than Serenity, andthere are a lot of left turns along the way. It is something I had in mindfor a while, and it just poured out of me when I finished my film.”

GRINDHOUSEQuentin Tarantino (right) has revealed some information on a possible upcomingproject with Robert Rodriguez entitled Grindhouse, where both directors willtake charge of various stories within the movie itself.

Tarantino: “His movie is called Planet Terror, and mine is called DeathProof. Mine is sort of a slasher film, but instead of a knife, it’s a car…his, he’s dealing with zombies and all that stuff. I think his might end upbeing more violent, but I’m not finished with my [script] yet, so you neverknow.”

The writer-director elaborated that he’s particularly excited about filmingthe in-movie trailers for fake movies, saying: “That’s one of the thingswe’re looking the most forward to, shooting the phoney trailers that willplay in between the movies. I’m working out my blaxploitation trailer, andpossibly a kung-fu trailer, a sexploitation trailer, a spaghetti-westerntrailer. I just need to kind of work them out a little bit. I’m just gettingthem down there, but I think for sure I’m going to do the sexploitationtrailer, which is called Cowgirls In Sweden.”

HEADHUNTERSNicole Kidman has agreed to star in and produce a movie adaptation of JulesBass’ comic novel Headhunters for ‘Fox 2000’ and ‘Regency Enterprises’,reports ‘Variety’.

Saw II – Trailer 1(click here for trailer)

Should that be “Seen”?
No, it’s saw as in “to cut something”.

I’m guessing this isn’t a lumberjack documentary.
You’d guess right. This is the sequel to cult horror hit Saw, about apsychotic villain known as Jigsaw who forces imprisoned victims to risktheir own lives in a series of sickening games.

Ahhh, this was written by Jane Austen, wasn’t it?
No, no, no.

Okay. So why get excited?
Well, Saw was an original take on the serial killer sub-genre, and providedsome chilling moments, a cool villain and some pretty decent twists alongthe way. Hopefully Saw II will continue in the same vein.

Does the trailer look good?
Not bad. It looks like more of the same, but with some differences. Thistime it appears to be a group of people being picked on by Jigsaw, not justtwo, etc.

Hmm, okay. When’s it out?
Just in time for Halloween. Obviously!f
