Futuramawas the big follow up to the Simpsons, one of the most famous andpopular television series of all time. It, in many ways, surpassedMatt Groening’s first hit: it was funnier, ruder and more ambitious. Butdespite this Futurama was sadly cancelled earlier this year, but thanks tothe magic of DVD we can enjoy the episodes over and over again.

Season two marked a milestone in Futurama, the voices became more settledafter a small amount of tweaking after season one, and ‘level’ ofviolence/language/sex and so on was set. The episodes in this setare: ‘I Second That Emotion’, ‘Brannigan, Begin Again’, ‘A Head In ThePolls’, ‘Xmas Story’, ‘Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love?’, ‘The Lesser OfTwo Evils’, ‘Put Your Head On My Shoulders’, ‘Raging Bender’, ‘A BicyclopsBuilt For Two’, ‘A Clone Of My Own’, ‘How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back’,’The Deep South’, ‘Bender Gets Made’, ‘Mother’s Day’, ‘The Problem With Popplers’,’Anthology Of Interest I’, ‘War Is The H-Word’, ‘The Honking’ and‘The Cryonic Woman’.

The quality of these episodes ranges from Good to excellent, none of them arepartially bad, but a few don’t quite manage to reach the high standard of therest. ‘The Cryonic Woman’ being one of them.

The sound and picture quality is slightly better than the previous season. AsI said the level of violence and language is established in this season andfor some younger fans of the simpsons it may be considered to strong. Thehighlight of the extras is definitely the audio commentaries; they are fun,informative and hilarious. The other extras are worth looking at but fail toreach the entertainment level of the commentaries.
