Echo 3 – The DVDfever Review – Luke Evans – Apple TV+

Echo 3 Echo 3 is a new Apple TV+ series, which begins with what could be the end for scientist Amber Chesborough (Jessica Ann Collins) alongside two male colleagues, but unfortunately out while exploring life in the jungle of the Colombia-Venezuela border, they find it ain’t I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

They’re all held at gunpoint, by men who are not happy to see them, before events go back several months to the wedding of Amber and Prince (Michiel HuismanThe Age Of Adaline), also attended by her brother, Bambi (Luke Evans), even though the overlong wedding scene made me think of The Deer Hunter.

However, in these gentlemen’s own day job, 17 minutes into the first episode, they’re going into battle like a game of SOCOM US Navy Seals on the Sony PSP, alas going into the wrong area and another of their colleagues being shot and cornered.

But this first episode has an awful lot of backstory and chit-chat, about what should or shouldn’t have happened in their job, playing the blame game, etc., whilst we also see Amber giving a Ted-type Talk about substance abuse.

Back to the outback, though, and despite these science researchers having permission to be there, it results in a problematic situation which may or may not turn out well for them. But then, since the premsie confirms it’s a ten-part series with the aim of tracking down Amber, we can be sure at least she is alive… for now.

Alas, that opening episode was the most boring thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I also started to watch the second episode, where they’re dealing with the fallout of what happened at the start of the opener, but Good Lord, it did not improve.

Echo 3 is on Apple TV+ from Wednesday November 23rd but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. Three episodes are available at launch, then the others are added on December 2nd and December 9th.

Thanks to our friends at Apple TV+ for the review screener.
